artwalk photobooth

my studio

So the artwalk went well, despite being so disgustingly cold that we barely made it to the (thankfully warm) studio from our car. There were I think five studios open in my building, and a surprising number of hardy souls made it out to look at art, drink wine and eat the cookies I baked that day. I amused myself by setting up some lights and taking pictures of artwalk guests making silly faces and playing some more with odd multiple exposure effects. Want a funky profile photo for your Facebook page? Come on down and sit for me!

artwalk tonight!

The sunsets have been amazing this week, with gorgeous clear starry skies afterwards. Don’t forget to come out for the Downtown Bellingham Artwalk tonight! I’ll be in Studio 214 of the Pickford Dreamspace (right above the theater) with photographs, handwoven scarves, Irish music CDs, and probably several bottles of wine. I know it’s really cold out, but I guarantee the studio will be toasty warm.

experimenting

Now that I have space to work in, I’m beginning to experiment with portrait photography. I’ve been practicing on myself and on willing friends, and I’m playing both with classic portraiture and with wacky/unusual effects to create images that would do well as, say, Facebook profiles or maybe album covers. I’m currently in need of new victims subjects, so if you’re interested in sitting for me let me know!

jump!

This afternoon we walked downtown to a local bakery so I could get a few photos for an article I’m writing. As I walked back to meet my husband, he was making our dog do some basic commands, and I lifted my camera to get a few shots just as she leaped into the air for a treat. Whee!
