Not necessarily the shot I was going for with these cool heirloom beans, but I like the light and shadow.
Pleasant Ridge Gallery holiday show
Mark your calendars for this year’s holiday show at Pleasant Ridge Gallery at the Rexville Grange, from November 22-25! As always, there will be lots of wonderful locally made arts and crafts throughout the weekend, and the opening night reception will have food, wine and live music (by me and my husband), plus a chance to meet the artists. See you there!

shapes in the clouds
Looking back through my photo catalog, I found a few more multiple exposure experiments from earlier this year that I had forgotten to post. A blue sky with little fluffy floating clouds in it makes a perfect surreal backdrop for all kinds of other shapes. I like the drifting Welsh poppies and the shapes of the maple leaves, but the centaurea flower is particularly weird.

I know that it’s not considered good form to overexpose or blow out photographs on purpose, but sometimes I do it anyway, just because I love how delicate structures like dill seedheads attenuate and discolor against the brilliant background. I took these photos about a month ago, right before cutting off several umbels to make a batch of dilly beans.
