This is one of those times I have a hard time deciding between the natural color or a monochrome version – I love how black and white brings out the texture in the fruit. But on the other hand, orange!

The Local
My photos and review of The Local Public House, a new taproom in downtown Bellingham, are in the current issue of the Cascadia Weekly! Check this place out, they have a great beer selection and make an amazing Reuben sandwich. Also, chilaquiles may not be the most photogenic breakfast but they sure are good.

This one is called Light Control, and is supposed to teach us how to manage lighting, whether it’s natural, artificial, or a mix of both. There’s a huge prejudice in the food blogging world against using artificial light for food photography, but it seems toContinue reading “mood lighting”
describing lemons
I spent this past weekend at the International Food Blogger Conference in Seattle. One of the workshops was an absolutely amazing presentation by Saveur photographer Penny De Los Santos, about what makes a good food photograph and how she approaches the subject of food culture. It was fascinating. Another good workshop was presented by KatContinue reading “describing lemons”
