//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js It was dark and rainy this morning, so instead of getting my big DSLR wet I tried out the camera on my new phone (which has the distinct benefit of being waterproof). Still a bit smeary in dim forest light but better than my old phone.

It was hard to choose a photo today. I also liked this one and this one, not to mention this one.

the geese returneth

I’m not an experienced bird photographer and don’t have the best lenses for wildlife shooting, but when you’re driving by a field full of newly arrived snow geese and your camera is sitting on the passenger seat, you stop and try your luck. (And yes, this is what winter in Skagit Valley looks like. AlthoughContinue reading “the geese returneth”

a wet day in the woods

It was raining hard yesterday, but the maples were glowing against the dark trees and low clouds.

droplets

Was out walking after a soft rain and found two cotinus bushes covered with tiny droplets. The photos would be better if I had had my DSLR with a macro lens, but my phone did pretty well.

January 21, 2015

A few photos from yesterday’s walk at the Port of Skagit trail system. Sometimes I get frustrated with my cell phone camera, other times I’m happily surprised with its quality. This was a mix.

January 14th

I don’t always take my good camera with me on dog walks, but some mornings you just know it’s going to be worth it.

down the coast

A few more photos from our recent road trip. Water, fog, sunshine and redwoods on the way down, desert hills and high mountains on the way back. Lots of pictures of Mount Shasta, because it’s such a lovely mountain, and a few photos where I was amusing myself with multiple exposures – you should beContinue reading “down the coast”

urban sunset

Powerlines can be perceived as a liability, or you can just run with it.

think warm

Ugh, it’s cold and blustery out. The power is flickering and there’s a chance of thunderstorms with occasional hail. Now is a good time to pull out a few pictures of warmer places from earlier this year.
